Once again I will be running the Choir for Grade 3 and 4 students (and returning choir members in Grade 5). We will be meeting on Tuesdays after school (starting on Tuesday, October 1st) from 3:00-4:00. Arrangements for a 4:00 pick-up at the school must be made, as busses do not run at this time. Students will also have to bring back a signed permission form in order to participate in the program.
It is my hope to teach the students about singing together as a group and how to control certain features of singing such as tone, pitch, and volume.
Thus far this year the choir has had many opportunities to perform. In September we performed at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Christina Gordon Public School, which is set to open in 2016. In November the choir performed at the Timberlea School Remembrance Day Ceremonies and in the Benefit Concert, which raised funds for our school's breakfast program. In December, the choir sang Christmas Carols at Extra Foods to gather monetary and food donations for the local food bank. We also performed 2 songs in the Winter Concert.
In the new year, it is my hope to have the choir perform at a family night in January, as well as perform in the Spring Musical, the talent show and visit the Seniors Centre to perform as well.
*Please note: The choir has grown very large this year! We have over 50 members and I will not be accepting any other members this year, due to space.
